Burlington, Ontario, May 14, 2026 – Special to RV Dealer News Magazine

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) met up with Denise and Mike Magwood of St. Catharines, Ontario, winners of the CRVA 50th Anniversary RV Giveaway, at General Coach Canada’s plant in Hensall, Ontario, to officially transfer ownership of their new Citation Reward travel trailer.
Denise told CRVA that the whole experience was surreal.
“I was actually cleaning out junk emails after dinner and almost deleted the winning email,” laughed Denise during a recent interview. “I saw ‘RV’ in the subject line and was about to swipe it into the trash when I realized it said my ticket from Friday was the winning ticket”.
“I immediately called my husband Mike, screaming, ‘I won the RV! I won the RV!’ He thought it was a scam at first and told me to calm down so he could take a look himself.”
Denise said that after seeing a segment on CHCH Television, she decided to attend the Toronto Spring Camping and RV Show and purchased the ticket on Friday, only 2 days before the draw.
“When I saw the RV display, they had this putting contest, and I was actually more focused on trying to win a Tim Hortons gift card for getting a hole-in-one and never dreamed of winning the RV!” Denise said.
“I love buying tickets for things,” she joked. “I just wanted to win something!”
The couple says they had been considering RV ownership for some time after enjoying glamping experiences together and seeing the freedom that the RV lifestyle can offer.
“We can go wherever we want, stop when we want, and stay for as long as we want,” Denise explained. “We’re really looking forward to travelling, meeting new people, and making new friends.”
The couple’s first trip is planned for Collingwood, Ontario, with longer journeys to New Brunswick and Calgary also on their radar to visit family. Denise also shared that one of the people most excited for the new adventure may actually be their furry companion, “Divot.”
“He’s our baby,” she said. “I can’t wait to see him experience his first adventure with us.” (Fortunately for Divot, the Citation Reward has a doggy water and food dish feature!)
“General Coach Canada is extremely proud to have been part of this year-long journey,” said Roger Faulkner, President of General Coach Canada.
“On behalf of the Faulkner family and all of our employees at General Coach, we would like to congratulate Denise and Mike and wish them many happy travels in their new Citation Reward travel trailer as they embark on their very first RV adventure together.”
The giveaway, held in support of Care Camps Foundation as part of CRVA’s 50th Anniversary celebrations last year, became one of the Association’s most successful initiatives to date and helped bring members, dealers, campgrounds, and RV enthusiasts together from across the country.
“This year-long giveaway was about much more than just the RV,” said Devenish. “It was about promoting the RV lifestyle, celebrating CRVA’s 50th Anniversary, and most importantly, supporting Care Camps and the incredible work they do to give children affected by cancer the chance to simply be kids and enjoy going to camp”
“For all of us, it was truly a rewarding experience, and a year that we will never forget,” said Devenish.
CRVA’s Toronto Spring Camping & RV Show contributed $1 from every paid attendee at its 2026 event toward the fundraising initiative, helping push the total donation to Care Camps to just over $80,000.
CRVA would like to sincerely thank everyone who purchased tickets, promoted the campaign, attended events, and supported the initiative throughout the year.
The Association acknowledges the tremendous support received from General Coach Canada, Go RVing Canada, Canadian Camping and RV Association, and the RVDA of Canada.
CRVA also extends its sincere appreciation to Rob Sneyd of Ruston Trailers for storing the RV throughout the year, and to Andy Thomson of Can-Am RV for helping in safely preparing and installing the tow package for Denise and Mike as they embarked on their first adventure with their new RV.
