Reflections on the 2023 Toronto Fall RV Show

As the autumn leaves settled and the RV community gathered, the 2023 Toronto Fall RV Show unfolded with a vibrant energy that surpassed all expectations. The Ontario Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (ORVDA) orchestrated an event that brought together enthusiasts, industry leaders, and stakeholders, setting the stage for both celebration and contemplation.

Exhibitor Turnout: The RV Dealer bulk space buzzed with life, reaching an impressive 95% occupancy. Notably, many dealers who had cautiously opted out of the 2022 event returned, marking a significant stride toward post-pandemic normalcy. Recognizing the challenges of surplus inventory in the industry, the Board of Directors introduced policy modifications, granting exhibitors increased flexibility to showcase previous model year units—a savvy move that showcased adaptability in an ever-evolving market.

Attendance Realities: However, the cheers were accompanied by a note of transparency. Despite the high spirits, attendance results showed a 17% decline, mirroring the cautious approach of consumers influenced by uncertainties in the economic landscape. Unit sales dipped by 12%, reflecting a more considered stance in spending.

RV Careers Booth: Emphasizing a commitment to nurturing careers in the RV industry, the event featured an inspiring RV careers booth. Education committee members and certified Red Seal RV technicians, Jamie Russell (Jr’s Mobile RV Service) and Jayce Santerre (Motorhome Travel Canda) lent their expertise, guiding and inspiring attendees. Representatives from Fleming College (Peterborough, ON) were also on-site, contributing their expertise and vision to the RV careers booth—a tangible manifestation of our shared enthusiasm and forward-thinking vision.
