August 8, 2023 – Art Tischer, of Atlas Trailer Coach Products, Calgary, Alberta, was honoured with the Jim Barker Lifetime Achievement Award at the RVIA Aftermarket Conference in San Diego.

The RVIA Aftermarket Association describes the award criteria as follows: “This honour, one of the most prestigious in the RV industry, is given to one individual each year who has contributed specifically to the RV aftermarket throughout their career and/or lifetime, whether through service, product innovation, education and/or philanthropy. Jim Barker Award candidates embrace a spirit of service to the industry, making a difference to the ongoing excellence of the RV Aftermarket, while also exhibiting strong moral and ethical behavior that exemplifies good stewardship and conduct.”

In the official announcement of the award, Bob Brammer, President of Stromberg Carlson and the award ceremony’s co-host, had the following comments: “Since getting involved in the industry, Art has played an intricate key role in his company’s success. He was involved in all aspects of operations that included three acquisitions and over 22 warehouse set-ups. Needless to say, Art has shown tremendous enthusiasm and dedication in achieving company goals. Atlas Trailer Coach Products has now surpassed 53 years in operation,” Bob added: “Over all these years, he has made a lot of friends in this great RV industry that he enjoys being part of. He is a man of integrity, honesty, and diligence in all that he pursues. Art is a genuine person that truly has the best interests of the company at heart. He has helped nurture and mentor so many of the staff at Atlas Trailer Coach Products and they are so grateful to have him in their family business.”

The RV Aftermarket Awards Program is designed to recognize individuals and aftermarket companies who are committed to excellence and growth in the RV industry. We asked the Bewernick family, owners of Atlas Trailer Coach Products, to comment on Art’s achievements, and provide some background information on this highly respected member of the RV industry…

Art Tischer is the General Manager of Atlas Trailer Coach Products. He has been with Atlas for over 42 years. His working career started right after high school with Alberta Power for approximately 2 years. He then went to Northwest Jet Drives, an aluminum riverboat manufacturer, for approximately 5 years. Art then went to Malkin & Pinton, an industrial supply distributor in Edmonton with distribution centers in Western Canada, where he worked for 10 years. His role was branch manager and he was also responsible for the sales force for Northern Alberta.

Art joined Atlas in 1981, when Atlas was in the process of opening the first branch expansion into Calgary, Alberta. Art was asked to relocate from Edmonton to Calgary, and he gladly accepted! His responsibilities were overseeing branch operations, as well as inside sales and outside sales, he wore many ball caps!

Art started his family in Calgary with two children and now has six grandchildren.
Atlas has now surpassed 53 years serving the Canadian RV industry.

Since Art joined Atlas in the early years, he has played an intricate key role in Atlas’ success as a national distributor across Canada. He has been involved in all aspects of operations that included 3 acquisitions and over 22 warehouse set-ups. Needless to say,
Art has shown tremendous enthusiasm and dedication in achieving our goals.

Art has made a a great many friends in the RV industry over the years, and he has enjoyed every minute of the time he spends working with dealers, suppliers, and RV pertsonalities throughout North America.

Anyone who knows him, knows that he is a man of integrity, honesty, and diligence in all that he pursues. Art is a genuine person that truly has the best interest of the company at heart. He has helped nurture and mentor so many of our staff. We are so grateful to have him in our family business.
