2024 Skills Canada National Competition

The 2024 Skills Canada National Competition was held in Quebec City on May 30 and 31. In the spirit of highlighting and showcasing Canadian manufacturing, ProLite offered a trailer for display in our Try-A-Trade booth.

The overall event boasted a strong turnout of 6,000 visitors. This year, our activity was the construction of a 7-way tester for the trailer, allowing participants to test various functionalities vital during pre-delivery inspections (PDI). This hands-on activity not only enhanced learning but also demonstrated the practical applications of skills in the RV industry.

Our continued participation as a Try-a-Trade exhibitor holds immense significance as it enables us to expand our outreach to the next generation of workers and their key influencers, namely parents and teachers. By showcasing the diverse career opportunities within the RV trade, we aim to inspire and attract young talent to consider pursuing rewarding careers in this thriving industry.

RVDA Convention/Expo:

The 2024 RV Dealers Convention/Expo is set for November 11-15 at Paris Las Vegas. The annual convention brings together dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, and RV industry business partners for the premier dealer education and networking event of the year.

Best-selling author and successful marketing executive Kevin Brown is scheduled to deliver the keynote address during the opening general session on Tuesday, November 12.

Brown is the author of “The Hero Effect” and “Unleashing Your Hero”. Brown travels the world teaching the mission of The Hero Effect®, a simple philosophy that separates world-class organizations and high-performance people from everybody else. It encourages people to be their best in the moments that matter. Brown is passionate about helping people expand their vision, develop their potential, and grow their results.

New this year is a Fixed Operations Day on Thursday, Nov. 14 which is designed specifically for service writers/advisors, parts professionals, and warranty administrators. Fixed ops team members can participate in sessions created to build their professional skills and knowledge, network with colleagues from dealerships all over North America, and meet with the industry’s top suppliers. The full day of education is designed to help dealerships improve Repair Event Cycle Time (RECT) and profitability.

Government Relations:

The RVDA of Canada is currently involved in a comprehensive Summer Outreach program with Members of Parliament as they spend time in their constituencies over the summer. These visits are an excellent opportunity for our government official to meet with local business owners, discuss our industry’s contributions to the Canadian economy, local job creation, and the impact on local tourism. The discussions are usually more informal and often allow for the Members of Parliament to provide thoughts on how we can move some of our advocacy efforts forward.

iA Dealer Service & RVDA of Canada celebrate their 30th anniversary.
