Charting a New Chapter: CRVA’s 50th Board Meeting Sets the Stage for the Future of RVing in Canada
By Shane Devenish, President, CRVA
It was fitting back when the Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) chose Charlottetown – the birthplace of Canadian unity – for its 50th Board of Directors Meeting.

On May 28, 2025, members from Canada’s RV Manufacturing and Supply sectors, and its Canadian Industry partners gathered at The Holman Grand Hotel overlooking the historic Charlottetown waterfront to reflect on CRVA’s half a century as an Association, and to shape what’s next in store for the future.
We all felt that this wasn’t just another board meeting… it was a moment in our history, when the need to discuss policy, people, and purpose was as important as any other, given what we are currently facing as an industry.
Tackling Today’s Headwinds
If celebration was in the air, so too was a sense of urgency. Key advocacy issues dominated the agenda, most notably the ongoing 25%+ reciprocal tariffs between Canada and the United States on motorhome imports and exports. CRVA reaffirmed its position on the matter and reviewed current talking points and letters of support as part of its ongoing government engagement.
Another emerging challenge: the impending PFAS reporting requirements, with compliance deadlines looming in early 2025. The Board explored whether to bring in regulatory consultants to guide members through what is widely seen as a complex and evolving federal framework.
Partner Voices, Shared Goals
The Open Session welcomed industry partners for a series of collaborative discussions.
- Cyrus Irani (Go RVing Canada) outlined national marketing strategies and offered a preview of what’s next in consumer engagement.
- Ken Dobson (RVDA of Canada) spoke on dealer priorities, regulatory challenges, and the need for coordinated advocacy.
- Cara Csizmadia (CCRVA) highlighted campground development, association growth, and the importance of representing the full ecosystem of Canadian RVing.
These presentations underscored the interconnected nature of Canada’s RV industry—manufacturers, suppliers, dealers, and campgrounds, all working together toward a common vision.
A Changing Industry, A Growing Table
Marty Bloemberg, Vice President of GLP Products, was re-elected as Chairman for the 2025–2026 term. Steady, strategic, and collaborative, Bloemberg’s leadership continues to be a guiding force as CRVA enters its sixth decade.
In a decisive move during the Annual General Meeting, CRVA passed a resolution to expand its Board of Directors, increasing the maximum from 18 to 24 members. The change reflects both the industry’s growth and the Association’s commitment to more inclusive representation across Canada’s diverse RV sector.
The meeting also offered a moment to honour CRVA’s legacy. In a heartfelt presentation, Jeff McDermott, past Chairman of CRVA, was presented with a commemorative plaque in recognition of his years of service and dedication to the Association.
The gesture reflected the deep respect CRVA holds for its leaders—past and present—who have helped shape the industry’s path over the past half century.

More Than Business: A Mission in Motion
The meeting also turned its focus to one of the Association’s proudest initiatives: the CRVA 50th Anniversary campaign—and at the heart of it, a beautiful Canadian-made General Coach Citation Reward travel trailer.
Wrapped and ready, the trailer will start its tour across Canada on June 12, serving to promote CRVA’s 50th Anniversary and the RV Lifestyle while raising funds for Care Camps, a charity that sends children with cancer to camp.
It’s a campaign that reflects the soul of the RV community: connection, compassion, and commitment to giving back, and we are all proud to be a part of it.
Looking Forward from Where It All Began
There was a symbolism in the CRVA gathering in Charlottetown. This is where Canada began—and where CRVA recommitted to leading the industry into the future. The 50th Board Meeting wasn’t just a milestone. It was a turning point – and as our representatives left to go home, there was no doubt: the road ahead is as wide open and full of promise as ever.
As CRVA looks toward the future, one thing remains clear: the Canadian RV industry is poised to thrive – driven by innovation, strong partnerships, and a renewed appreciation for the outdoors.
Whether it’s a weekend by the lake, a summer-long cross-country journey, or simply a night under the stars, the RV lifestyle continues to inspire freedom, connection, and unforgettable memories.
With the spirit of adventure and community at its heart, RVing isn’t just a mode of travel – it’s a way of life.
