Camping in Ontario, the provincial association of private campgrounds, held their annual AGM, convention and CampEX show in Kitchener Ontario, November 17 to 19, 20/25.
Campground owners and Camping in Ontario members arrived on Sunday to participate in a series of local campground visits – the program was very well attended and received high praise from the participants.
Monday morning started with a breakfast and welcome session, followed by a keynote presentation by Dr. Jasmine Bergeron. At 10 AM, the CampEx display space opened with exhibitors presenting their products and services specifically catering to campground operators. Throughout the morning and afternoon there were breakout sessions for managers on a wide range of topics appropriate to the campground industry.
Monday’s festivities concluded with cocktails, dinner and a special auction that lasted well into the evening.
Tuesday began with a breakfast meeting followed by four breakout sessions on a variety of topics. The annual general meeting followed with a lunch for all attendees. Tuesday afternoon continued with a “cracker barrel” session – which is essentially an opportunity for attendees to participate in a wide range of discussions.
One of the key topics addressed at this year’s Camping in Ontario session was the efforts by some municipalities to change the zoning and the taxation applications for park model trailers in the Ontario parks – this is a critical area that is being examined by the Camping in Ontario team and experts from the RV industry.
Following the cracker barrel session there were breakout discussions on a variety of topics ranging from website and online applications for campgrounds to technical aspects of campground operations.
The day concluded with cocktails, dinner, and the presentation of the Camper’s Choice Awards.
This year’s Camp EX Con/Expo was an excellent opportunity for campground operators and related industry representatives to stay up to speed on recent developments in the industry.
