Exemption of Electronic Logging Devices for RV Transportation in Canadian Provinces approved by Transport Canada

October 23, 2023 – The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association is pleased to announce that the Canadian RV Industry’s ELD (Electronic Logging Device) Exemption Request has been approved by Transport Canada, effective October 19th, 2023.
The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) would like to thank the RV Dealers Association of Canada (RVDA of Canada), and the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) for their collaborative efforts in our quest to continue to deliver exceptional service to our customers without compromising Canadian road safety.
The approved exemption will immediately have a positive impact on the Canadian Recreational Industry making it easier for US Manufacturers and RV Retailers in Canada to source commercial vehicle drivers who had demonstrated reluctance to enter Canada under the ELD Mandate which took effect January 1st.
This critical decision by Transport Canada means that our members and stakeholders again have much needed flexibility and efficiency essential for the unique demands of the RV transportation industry.
CRVA will continue to work closely with Transport Canada to ensure that operators align with federal regulations while making the most of this ELD exemption.
